The Portland Symphony Orchestra in Portland, Maine will premiere my composition No Thing Lives to Itself in this matinee performance conducted by Eckart Preu. The work is inspired by Rachel Carson, who lived nearby for many years. No Thing Lives to Itself was commissioned by the League of American Orchestras and Portland Symphony Orchestra with the generous support of the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation. Also on the program are works by Saint-Saëns and Tchaikovsky.
